Dark Left Joe Manchin or #DarkLeftJoeManchin refers to a set of memes depicting a darker, edgelordier version of a make believe left wing version of Joe Manchin. The memes appropriate DarkMAGA imagery originally used by conservative Trump supports posters to depict Donald Trump as well as the Howard Dean scream catchphrase used by conservatives to clown Howard Dean in 2004 and the media. The trend started recently and in its early usage, Dark Left Joe Manchin was very ironic, with the memes for the most part ribbing about the make believe left wing version of Joe Manchin's alleged crazy old man thoughts and inability to engage in the forceful, drama queen ways depicted in Dark Left Joe Manchin memes.


As the meme trend moved forward through August 2022, however, it more and more showed an unironic appreciation of left wing Joe Manchin and the accomplishments of his alternate history Speaker of the House role. The memes may show waffle and chicken imagery (since our world's version of Joe Manchin waffles a lot) and laser eyeballs appropriated from Dark MAGA,
